Bangkok Oct 2017: Moomin Cafe
Ever since my stopover in Bangkok in April, I was intrigued and wanted to visit Bangkok again. Heard and read many a good things (food mostly) about BKK so was really looking forward to this trip.
Of course I had to do some research before the trip, to make a note of the important places that I wanna visit. My husband and I are not the itinerary kind of traveller when it comes to holidays, so the strategy for us is to read up on the places we are interested in and then plan to visit them by area. That way, it's more efficient and relaxed.
As you know, I am crazy about Moomins. (They're so cute!!) and I've visited the Moomin & Me cafe in Seoul.. But my dream is to go to the famous Moomin cafe in Tokyo.. and maybe one day, just one day, I will visit Moomin Museum in Tampere and Moomin World in Naantali, Finland!
The question in your mind now would be, what is so different about Moomin cafe in Seoul and Bangkok, it's the same Moomins.. Yes, that is quite right. But having a meal with a life-sized Moomin is really the thing to do for a Moomin fan. Now I will let the Moomins work their charm through the photos...

Welcome to Moomin Cafe, located at Siam Centre (Fl 2) in BKK! Love the quaint and cozy setting already!
When we visited Moomin Cafe it was close to dinner time, and the cafe was quite crowded already. A good sign! We got to sit with Moominmamma!! She's just so friendly and cute!!
We ordered dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the decoration on the food. Previously during our visit to Moomin & Me in Seoul, we only had tea and cake. And typically, in visiting character cafes, I don't really have high expectations on the food as the main draw is the cuteness of the characters themselves.
Look at the cute Moomin carving decoration on the coconut! Very impressed by the efforts to carve the Moomin there. And the dish is pork stew with red wine, sort of like a beef bourguignon, but pork. It's quite tasty and there is a hint of red wine aroma in the dish. I guess I don't need to rave about the Moomin-shaped rice, complete with peppercorns as eyes! See for yourself!
The food items on the menu are Thai-food inspired and they also have some promotional items. The prices are also quite reasonable.
As I mentioned, the cafe was quite crowded so it wasn't really convenient to go around taking pictures in case of disturbing other diners. But here are some cute photos at the unoccupied tables.
Do you want to dine with the Groke? He looks really friendly here.
Moomin and Snorkmaiden, of course!
Moominpappa and Moomin in front of the cafe! They look so cute, as if saying, when will you visit us again?
If you are in the mood for retail therapy, there is a small Moomin shop within the cafe that you can pick up some Moomin souvenirs.
With the central location, cozy ambience and good food, I definitely recommend a visit to the Moomin cafe if you are a Moomin fan!
