Bangkok Oct 2017: TrueLove at Neverland

Dog-lovers will have heard of the husky cafe: TrueLove at Neverland in Bangkok. For me, I love huskies but I cannot keep them as pets since I live in a HDB flat. Besides, I always feel that Singapore is too hot for huskies due to their thick fur.

Located near the Ari BTS station in Bangkok, TrueLove at Neverland is located in a residential area. On the map it seems a bit far from the shopping district of Bangkok but it is quite accessible by cab (or GrabCar).

They have 2 interactive sessions where visitors can pat / play with the huskies as they roam freely in the pen, 12.30pm and 3.30pm. Visitors are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance for registration. More information such as entry fees can be found on their Facebook page.

When we first entered the cafe, we were greeted by these shelves of cute husky plushies and there were also life-sized plushies to take photos with. The entry ticket comprises of a cake and drink.

Strawberry cake

Passionfruit drink

The strawberry cake consists of alternating layers of soft fluffy vanilla sponge with cream and crunchy strawberry slices. We also tried the chocolate cake, which had a rich, dark chocolate ganache sandwiched between slices of chocolate sponge cake. Both cakes were moist and tasty. The passionfruit drink I ordered was refreshing and not too sweet.

Other than the cream and sponge cakes, there are also ice-cream cakes available. The menu also features main meal dishes, so we also ordered the BBQ ribs. (Edit: I went again recently and the food menu is no longer. There is still cake and drinks that are part of the ticket, but no other food menu. There are also no eateries near by so be sure to grab a small bite before going there if you will be hungry.)

The portion was quite generous and the ribs were tender. The meat slid off the bones and we didn't really have to do much cutting. The dish was flavourful, and very well-marinated.

Finally, it was time for us to meet the huskies. There was about 1 hour of playtime for the visitors and we were briefed by a 'safety video'. Then, we put on shoe covers and wash and disinfect our hands before going into the pen. All these under the friendly supervision of the staff. This allows the huskies to be in a hygienic environment when interacting with the visitors.

As you can see on the left (Momo), there are also other breeds of dogs other than huskies. Other than Momo, there are also 4 other sheepdogs. Some of the huskies are bred in Thailand and others are from Siberia (Siberian Husky).

The staff and keepers also stayed with the visitors in the pen to make sure everything goes well. Most of the huskies are quite friendly and seemed relaxed. Some of them even fell asleep.

There was one husky smaller than the others. Despite so, he was very feisty and mischievous. He playfully bit some of the larger huskies and sheepdogs, and of course they started chasing him around. It was really quite funny.

And at the end of the 1 hour playtime, the visitors are asked to stand in the designated corners to watch the huskies run back to their air-conditioned living quarters. It's really quite a sight to behold!
