Seoul April 2017: Mellow Cafe

I am never really into planning itineraries. Just like Dory (from Finding Dory) says: What's so good about plans? So, every time we travel, we just go around exploring the nearby areas, getting lost here and there, and that's how we found this cafe. A cosy little nook, tucked away in an alley. Sometimes, isn't that the point of travelling? To discover new things and try new experiences...

Cafe Mellow. We were just wandering around the Hongdae area, on our way back from a BBQ meat dinner (look out for the next post!). I spotted this poster of the chocolate fondue (6500 won) out in the alley so we decided to come in and try it.

The set we ordered was about 9500 won. It comes with marshmallow, banana and a sliced croissant.  It reminds me of those chocolate fondue / hot chocolate sets at Max Brenner's. There is a tea-light receptacle with a small pot over it, for us to DIY and melt the dark chocolate buttons in the small pot. We can adjust the richness and texture with the milk provided in the small jug.

The cafe owner also kindly pointed out to us the card at the table to follow the steps!

We can't read Korean, but the pictures are good enough. It's quite fun to make the fondue ourselves and of course, marshmallow and banana can never go wrong with chocolate. The croissant was not the buttery kind, more of a dried flaky roll. But it was able to absorb the chocolate and it tastes quite good with the chocolate.

After finishing the food, we added the remainder of the milk to the remaining melted chocolate to make a hot chocolate. See.. (sorry for the messy picture). Yum!

A fun and satisfying dessert after our evening meal.
